Adding color to your landscaping with plants is one of the easiest and most affordable ways to add curb appeal to your Knoxville landscaping. Although some folks like to include a rainbow of colors, there’s something to be said for the drama you can achieve with a somewhat monochromatic approach to plant selection. Here’s a great example we came across on our recent vacation to Milwaukee, Wisconsin where we visited The Domes botanical gardens.
Pleasing Purple Plants
Get the Look
To start seeing purple in your landscape design in Knoxville, Tenn., consider adding some of these purple plants to your palette:
- Salvia
- Lavender
- Russian Sage
- Heuchera (Coral Bells)
- Lenten Rose
- Loropetalum
- Purple Queen
- Merlot Red Bud
- Petunia
- Muscari
- Liriope
Color Pairings for Purple Plants
To really land the monochromatic look of a landscape bed, you’ll need to branch out (pun intended) from purple just a bit. Here are some of my favorite yellow and silver plants to accent your purple ones:
- Black-eyed Susan
- Daylily
- Lamb’s Ear
- Dusty Miller
- Russian Sage
- Rosemary
It’s best to use these accent plants sparingly when setting off purple plants.
