El Rio Country Club covers nearly 900 acres in Guadalajara, Mexico and features a Jack Nicklaus Signature 18-hole Golf Course. During his time at the landscape design division of Nicklaus Design, Bob Graves, now owner of Carex Design Group, was the lead designer for the landscape design elements throughout the golf course. In his design, Bob paid homage to the area’s history as an old agave plantation, mimicking the agricultural layout with new agave plantings. To ensure the most natural look of the landscaping, Bob worked with the construction team to harvest plants from the existing property to use throughout the course.
