Although many folks are tired of spending time at home during 2020’s pandemic, Carex Design Group has been busy this summer helping Knoxville landscape design clients turn drab outdoor spaces into relaxation and recreation retreats ideal for physical distancing precautions.
High Style in Seymour, Tenn.
We created a slice of style for this outdoor space by including an infinity-edge pool. The entire space is ideal for being social at a safe distance because we also incorporated several gathering spaces and seating options to help people stay apart without sacrificing fun.
People can relax on the tanning shelf in the pool, sit alongside the seat wall next to the infinity-edge spillover, sit on the elevated deck or congregate in the outdoor kitchen under the deck.
Athletic Adventures and Killer Cuisine
While most are avoiding local gyms and restaurants, this client in the Gettysvue neighborhood of West Knoxville won’t have to go far to stay fit and full during quarantine. We designed this outdoor sports and cooking oasis for an active family who likes to have fun.
The highlights include a half-court basketball court with Firerock pavers and an adjustable hoop so even the kids can dunk on this one. We also decked out the outdoor kitchen with all the bells and whistles by including two Big Green Eggs, a flat-top griddle, grill and fridge. Because the family expects to use this space for extensive cooking and entertaining, we also included a sink and pantry storage so clean up isn’t a chore. The space also features a pool with a tanning shelf and built-in spa as well as a fire pit so guests can relax after a game of hoops and filling meal.

Although the golf course has been a quarantine retreat for many this summer, there’s no need to leave home for this family because we’ve brought the golf home with a chipping and putting green surrounding a relaxing fiberglass pool and built-in spa.
We also infused this space with a touch of modern by designing floating deck steps from the wood deck to the pool area. To ensure the family had all they need nearby, we also designed a pool house with a wet bar, outdoor shower, TV, fireplace, sitting area, bathroom.
